I created the portraits, and the agency Protocolo 66 designed the 14 roll-up panels that accompany them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-rank-math-toc-block\" id=\"rank-math-toc\"><h2>Women scientists illustrations<\/h2><nav><ul><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#why-dont-we-remember-their-names\">Why don\u2019t we remember their names?<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#the-13-women-scientists\">The 13 women scientists<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#illustration-for-science-outreach\">Illustration for science outreach<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#stem-with-a-womans-name\">STEM with a woman\u2019s name<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#frequently-asked-questions\">Frequently asked questions<\/a><ul><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#who-created-the-women-scientists-illustrations\">Who created the women scientists illustrations?<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#where-has-the-exhibition-been-shown\">Where has the exhibition been shown?<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The goal is clear: to give visibility to women who made history in science but have been left out of textbooks and collective memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"why-dont-we-remember-their-names\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why don\u2019t we remember their names?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you were asked right now to name three important women scientists, could you do it? Maybe not, and that is precisely the problem. The selection mixes international figures with two Spanish scientists:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Hypatia of Alexandria<\/strong>, mathematician, astronomer and philosopher.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maria Sibylla Merian<\/strong>, pioneering entomologist and nature illustrator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ada Lovelace<\/strong>, mathematician and author of the first computer algorithm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sofia Kovalevskaya<\/strong>, the first woman to earn a doctorate in mathematics in modern Europe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Marie Sk?odowska-Curie<\/strong>, physicist and chemist, two-time Nobel laureate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Emmy Noether<\/strong>, one of the founders of modern algebra.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Edith Clarke<\/strong>, electrical engineer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Klara von Neumann<\/strong>, early computer programmer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hedy Lamarr<\/strong>, actress and inventor of a frequency-hopping technology behind today\u2019s wireless communications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Margaret Hamilton<\/strong>, the computer scientist who led the Apollo flight software.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dorotea Barn\u00e9s Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong>, chemist from Pamplona and a pioneer of spectroscopy in Spain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mar\u00eda Josefa Molera class=\"wp-block-heading\">Illustration for science outreach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are not just portraits. Each one is a small visual story that makes the scientist approachable, especially for children and teenagers. I used a flat, colourful style with a different background colour for each woman, a full-body pose and objects linked to her discoveries, so the series works both as a set and as individual panels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The roll-ups designed by Protocolo 66 add a short biography, achievements and a quote from each scientist in clear, accessible language. Together they combine three things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Art:<\/strong> illustrations that humanise the scientists and catch the eye from a distance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Outreach:<\/strong> texts that explain their contributions simply.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Social impact:<\/strong> a travelling exhibition that has visited schools and cultural centres across Navarre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"stem-with-a-womans-name\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">STEM with a woman\u2019s name<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Encouraging girls and women to study and work in science, technology, engineering and mathematics is not only a matter of fairness. Their presence is essential for excellent research, an inclusive vision, sustainable development and a better future for everyone.
