Through precise lines and vibrant colours, I tried to capture the grandeur of the desert, with its imposing dunes, arid plains and the oases scattered along the route. Each stage is represented with a visual detail that lets viewers experience the challenge of the race without being on the ground.

A vector illustration project

This map does not only highlight the desert landscape; it is designed in vector format, so it can be scaled without losing quality. Whether you see it small on a t-shirt or large on a poster, the Titan Desert map always keeps its sharpness, function and aesthetics. As an illustrator, I love creating work that is both technical and creative, and this map is one of those pieces.

Titan Desert: more than a race

The Titan Desert is a multi-stage mountain bike race held in the deserts of Morocco since 2006. For riders, it is not just a competition but an experience that tests the limits of endurance and strength. When designing this map, I wanted every visual element to make participants feel that challenge: the vastness of the desert and the beauty of an environment that, despite its harshness, offers something unique to every rider who faces it.

How the Titan Desert map works for merchandising

Although it is not meant to be a navigation tool, the design lends itself perfectly to merchandising. Thanks to its attractive style and vibrant colours, it can be adapted to a wide range of products, from t-shirts to posters or backpacks, letting fans and participants take a piece of the Titan Desert home.

A unique design for a unique adventure

Each stage of the route has its own colour and style, which makes it easy to identify the key points and lets viewers follow the story of the race visually. At the same time, I tried to convey the emotions riders go through with a design full of symbolism. The map becomes a piece of art that does not only inform but also connects emotionally with the viewer.

The experience of creating the map

For me as an illustrator, the creative process was as exciting as the final product. Designing a map for such a prestigious race was a technical challenge and also a chance to explore the desert from a unique perspective: the visual one. Being able to convey both the harshness and the beauty of the desert through a map was an experience I really enjoyed.

Maps are not only for novels. Commercial and event maps like this one share the same principles as the illustrated maps I create for books: clarity, atmosphere and a story behind every line.

Frequently asked questions

What makes the Titan Desert map 2024 unique?

It stands out as a visual piece that captures the essence of the desert through precise details, vibrant colours and a vector style that makes it adaptable to any format.

Was the map designed for merchandise?

Yes. It was designed specifically to be used on merchandise such as t-shirts, posters and other products, so riders and fans can take a piece of the Titan Desert with them. You can also see my own t-shirt designs.

Conclusion

Creating this map was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career as an illustrator. The Titan Desert 2024 is not just a cycling race but an adventure that is reflected in this map, which has become a unique piece in the history of the competition.

If you would like to see more of my work or are thinking about a visual project like this one, see my map illustration page or get in touch.
